DISPLCEMENT is the volume or weight of a fluid displaced by a floating
object. In surfboard design, the degree that surfboards and surfers displace water.
STATIC DISPLACEMENT in surfboard design is the degree that a surfboard
displaces water based uniquely on the volume of the surfboard combined with the
size or volume of the surfer.
DYNAMIC DISPLACEMENT in surfboard design is the degree that surfers
displace water with their surfboards based on the combined volume of the
surfboard, the surfer's size, and the surfer's technique and board management
skills.
Ultimately, it is DYNAMIC DISPLACEMENT that determines how much
volume and how that volume is configured for any surfboard. |
