VOLUME, DISPLACEMENT & SURFBOARD DESIGN
How volume and displacement affect surfboard design
Dispalcement is the volume or weight of a fluid displaced by a floating
object. In surfboard design, the degree that surfboards and surfers displace water.
Static Displacement is the degree that a surfboard displaces water based uniquely on the volume of the surfboard combined with the size or volume of the surfer.
Dynamic Displacement is the degree that surfers displace water with their surfboards based on the combined volume of the surfboard, the surfer's size, and the surfer's technique and board management skills.
Ultimately, it is dynamc displacement that determines how much volume and how that volume is configured for any surfboard.
