[ Makaha Fun Gun]
DESCRIPTION
The Makaha Fun Gun is named after Oahu's legendary west side reef.
The Hawaiians were arguably the first modern surfers to embrace progressive
surfing on big boards during the halcyon days of longboards, during the short
board revolution, and remain on the leading edge of performance longboard
surfing to this day. The Makaha Fun Gun is a high volume full template
surfboard. Rocker, profile, and outline integrate semi gun features into the
design. Wider than conventional semi guns and marginally narrower than
performance LBs the outline is parallel enough through the nose, entry, and
wide point to offer speedy forward trim and nose riding and the curve from wide
point to tail is curved enough to turn with ease and offers great control and
projection. The convex bottom contours provide lift, glide, and control. They
feature subtle tri plane from nose to entry to wide point and panel vee with soft
rolled transition along the stringer from wide point to tail. Optional spiral
vee from wide point to tail offers more acceleration out of turns. Similar to
the contemporary performance longboard the rails mimic contemporary shortboard
rails - low neutral nose, entry, and wide point to tucked edge in the tail
engaging and releasing the board in the face of waves with predictable control.
The Makaha Fun Gun is a fun, versatile, multifunction board. A joy to surf in
small waves and a very reliable board to ride in the biggest and heaviest waves
most surfers are comfortable surfing.
